  • March 5th MEAT-UP + March 31st Group Ride to Stinson Beach

    Greetings fellow scooterists,

Join us for next week’s after-work “MEAT-UP” as club members, scootering friends & fans convene at WesBurger n’ More down in the Mission at 7pm Tuesday March 5th.  We’ll be chewing & chatting, strategizing & scheming about our upcoming 2019 events, including this summer’s scavenger hunt, this fall’s camping trip & potential weekend-long rally in wine country, & most pressing— the 2019 Vespa raffle goes live that evening!  There’s no ride before or after the meet-up, so regardless of weather arrive warm & dry that evening in an Uber or Lyft.  No need to RSVP, just drop by 2240 Mission Street around 7pm & say hello, nosh a kick-ass burger with friends, & join us for some scintillating scootering conversation!

Can’t make it that evening?  Want to carve a few backroad twisties on a (fingers crossed!!) warm sunny Sunday afternoon instead?  Join us for our Last Sunday of the Month Group Ride as we cross the Golden Gate Bridge en route to Stinson Beach on Sunday March 31st.  We’ll meet in the parking lot of the SF Columbarium at 12:30, conduct a brief safety meeting for all participants at 12:45 & take off promptly at 1pm bound for the bridge.  And while it is our monthly ride coordinators’ hopes to make it as far as Stinson Beach that afternoon, we shall remain acutely aware of the time & will plan to turn around at 3pm at the halfway point of the ride.  We’ll then point our scoots toward home, making certain that the group is safely back across the bridge well by 5pm that afternoon.

Once again, it is the PostMods pledge to every group rider who joins in on the Sunday fun in 2019 – we shall do our absolute best to stay true to every ride’s beginning & end time!!!

All riders are welcome to join. Golden Gate Bridge-crossing experience encouraged though not required, this is for the intermediate rider willing to reach speeds of 50+mph in a safe, fun and friendly environment.

RSVPs required for the March 31st group ride.

Please respond via email no later than Friday March 29th at 5pm or find this and all of our events on our Facebook page so we can plan accordingly for the group’s size.

    LOOKING DOWN THE ROAD

As many of you may already know, along with the help of fellow scooterists and PostModsters Rob Shaddock and Anya Chambers I am finally buying my very own Vespa dealership, Revolution Moto, up in Wine Country’s Santa Rosa.  More details will follow soon, but please save the date for the weekend of April 5th-7th for our big RevMoto 2.0 Reboot Party.  The latest Vespa models shall be on display along with a silkscreening station creating commemorative t-shirts, food trucks and live music, all while Brooklyn-based famed graffiti artist Adam Fujita creates a one-of-a-kind mural on Friday night.  We’re planning a scooter friendly drive-in movie night on Saturday evening & kicking off a “PostMods North” FIRST Sunday of the Month Group Ride on April 7th.  Mark your calendars everyone, & stay tuned for all the deets and updates as the party planning unfolds!!

Hope to see you all in March.  Ride safely & stay dry everyone!

This February 17th, the PostMods ride to Pacifica!

    Good morning fellow scooterists,

It takes no more than a glance outside to be reminded that we are still deep into the wet wintery weather here in the Bay Area.  Join us as we defy the drizzle and plan our first PostMods Group Ride for 2019!

As the Oscars are on February 24th (the last Sunday of the month), we’ve decided to forego the red carpet & schedule our monthly ride a week earlier.  While the PostMods Social Club is still on the hunt for a new clubhouse, we’ll be meeting up at 10am sharp outside the Murphy Windmill at the western edge of Golden Gate Park. The MANDATORY pre-ride safety meeting shall commence at 10:15 sharp, every rider must be present to ride with the group.   Kickstands up at 10:30 sharp en route to Pacifica by way of the Great Highway, then a short 20-minute easy-going stint along beautiful Hwy 1, with lunch at Nick’s Rockaway from 11-12:30. We’ll be winding our way back home along Skyline Blvd into SF’s Mission District, enjoying a Sunday ride with very little highway time. This ride will be the perfect 2019 riding season kick-off for new riders, inexperienced scooterists & those who would like to build their skills & confidence at speeds reaching 50–55mph in a safe & seasoned group.  It shall be a quick lunch outing and a gorgeous scenic ride along the coast, affording many commuter scooterists a rare opportunity to really get a taste for what you & your scooter can do in less than 4 short hours on a Sunday!

    THE HIGHLIGHTS

    • 10am-  scooterists shall convene at the Murphy Windmill
    • 10:15am- pre-ride safety meeting
    • 10:30 SHARP- kickstands up & we ride out for Pacifica
    • 11-12:30- lunch at Nick’s Rockaway
    • 12:30-1:15- return to SF, disperse from Mission Delores Park

Thank you to all of you who filled out last month’s 10-minute questionnaire survey. Your feedback was immensely informative, and every effort shall be made to keep many of this year’s rides short & sweet yet with an exciting route & destination.  Most importantly, we shall be much, MUCH more diligent in keeping the rides on schedule and ending on time.  Thank you again for your feedback, it’s very important to us & we’ve listened.
Excited to see you all out there in just 9 days!

    Ride safely,
    Pete D.R. Surber

    Jan 27th event from 5pm-6:30pm!

    Happy 2019 my fellow scooterists,

This month, we’re kicking off the new year with an unprecedented CLUB-WIDE 2019 EVENTS PLANNING MEETING.  Everyone is encouraged to attend, from nonmember regulars who ride with the club each month to coin-wielding members and every scooterist in between.  All who attend will have a voice in helping to shape the PostMods Scooter Squad’s 2019 riding season!

The meeting shall be hosted by fellow PostModster Brian Kestenblatt and shall be held from 5-6:30pm at the SF Columbarium at One Loraine Court near Stanyan and Anza Streets in San Francisco. An early dinner shall be served by the club, including burgers and brats along with vegetarian choices as well. To better prepare our culinary feast, RSVP’s are encouraged no later than Friday January 25th at 5pm.  Simply respond to this email to let me know you’ll be attending, text the club at 707.293.3101 or RSVP online at the club’s Facebook Page event.

We’ll be discussing various rides and events for 2019.  How about a midnight ride to Point Reyes and back? Want to see another team-based scavenger hunt this year? How about one of a handful of history-themed ride ideas we’ve got clanging around our heads (anyone familiar with San Francisco’s network of water catchment cisterns, hidden in plain sight?)?!?!  We’ll be weighing the options for our club’s first official scooter rally, a potential camping trip this summer/fall and other various events.  Also on the agenda shall be membership drive ideas and fund raising / raffle plans which will very likely include a model year 2020 Vespa giveaway at this year’s Festival of Lights in December.

I speak for everyone on the PostMods team when I say that 2019 is shaping up to be our best year yet, full of rousing rides and engaging events, tasty treks and plenty of prizes for all who join in on the fun.  Not to be missed!

Hope to see you all there,

We’ll roll out and cross the Golden Gate Bridge, duck into Sausalito & wiggle along side streets into Mill Valley then across the 101 toward Tiburon.  Our well-lit cavalcade shall make its way along the quiet, twisty, darkened backroads of Paradise Drive, stopping at downtown Tiburon’s Waypoint Pizza or Mill Valley’s Super Duper for a warm-up & a bite to eat before we cross the bridge bound for home.

At the time of this newsletter’s mailing, there’s a 40% chance of rain on Sunday December 9th, & the event may be canceled in the interest of riders’ safety.  Those who RSVP by the deadline of Wednesday December 5th shall receive updates via email on the event’s status as the date nears.

Very much looking forward to riding with each & every one of you on Sunday December 9th!!
