Summer is officially upon us, and with that comes prime riding season. This July 7th, we’re giving our Field Marshal J.J. Stenerson the month off and dusting off one of the PostMods Scooter Club’s most popular routes, this year with a fun twist.
Since the club’s inception in 2015, winding our way through Muir Woods has been an annual crowd-pleaser, and our July ride promises to deliver on that in spades.
When:
Sunday, July 7th
Meeting Locations and times are FIRM AND FINAL:
North Bay-based scooterists option 1 - Santa Rosa Meetup
Meet the PostMods in the Memorial Hospital Neighborhood at 235 California Ave. Santa Rosa around 9:15 am for a southbound departure at 9:30 SHARP.
North Bay-based scooterists option 2 - Petaluma Meetup
Meet the PostMods at Avid Coffee at 21 4th Street in downtown Petaluma no later than 10:00 am.
Once every North Bay-based scooterist arrives at Petaluma’s Avid Coffee around 10 am, we’ll hold a pre-ride group safety meeting sharply at 10:15 am, and all riders MUST BE PRESENT in order to ride with the group.
San Fransisco-based scooterists - SF Meetup
Meet the SF Scooter Club at 999 Marine Dr. near Fort Point at 10 am, with kickstands up at 10:30 SHARP bound for Fairfax.
Destination:
It’ll be kickstands up at 10:30 am, with the northern group riding south out of Petaluma along D Street, hanging a left off Pt. Reyes - Petaluma Road onto Nicasio Valley Road. Past the sleepy little town of Nicasio, we’ll hang another left onto Sir Francis Drake Blvd and roll into Fairfax just in time for an 11:30 am lunch at M & G Burgers and Beverages. It’ll be there that the PostMods northern riders will meet up with the crew from the San Francisco Scooter Club as they ride north.
If you’re an SF-based PostMods scooterist (lookin’ at you, Dale and Heidy!), join the SF Scooter Club when they meet up at 10am at 999 Marine Dr. near Fort Point, with kickstands up at 10:30 bound for Fairfax. You might think crossing the Golden Gate Bridge will be the highlight of your ride, but wait’ll you feel the curves below your saddle along Fairfax - Bolinas Road!
The PostMods / SF Scooter Club SUPERGROUP of scooterists will lunch together for an hour, mount up at 12:30 sharp, and head southwest outta Fairfax along Bolinas Road toward Alpine Lake’s dam. We’ll meander our way to Hwy 1 along one of the “mountain goatiest” routes in California, Fairfax - Bolinas Road, stopping to stretch our legs in Stinson beach at 2pm.
PostMods will be buying everyone a quick ice cream treat from Parkside Cafe before we hop on our scoots once again and head into the woods — Muir Woods, that is!!
There’ll be more twisty scootering along Redwood tree-lined champagne asphalt until we make our way to the parking lot of Mill Valley’s Equator Coffee, where each of the two clubs will part ways and head home around 3:30 pm.
That means northern riders will likely get home around 4:30 or 5 pm, depending upon whether or not you choose to join the crew of freeway riders hopping on 101. If you’d prefer to ride the backroads on the way home, Pete will be shepherding a group of riders along the scenic route of Hwy 1 aaalll the way back to Sonoma County, with a Santa Rosa ETA of 5:-5:30 pm.
Level 3 & 4 Ride "Advanced Intermediate" to "Seasoned Expert"

This ride will be loooong, technically challenging, and will total about 120-140 miles depending upon your point of origin / destination after the ride. We invite seasoned riders capable of long distances on a minimum 150cc scooter.
There will often be slow, difficult and bumpy terrain, broken up by long stretches of highway speeds along 2-laned byways. We encourage those with the energy and stamina for an all-day adventure to come along for part or all of the day’s ride!
Arrive fueled up, tires checked, and ready to go.
Cost for those riding south with the group out of Petaluma:
Free for current PostMods members
$10 for non-current members and non-members of the club
Emergency Contact:
Starting on this ride, and for group rides moving forward, we are asking that all riders include, in their RSVP, an emergency contact. We will gather this info and bring it with us on the ride.
We are looking forward to seeing you all on the 7th!
