10am – 3:30pm
Sunday May 2nd

Hello fellow scooterists,

We’re stoked that the PostMods-hosted monthly group rides have weathered the pandemic storm of 2020, prouder still that we’ve only missed a few rides in the last 12+ months and those rides we’ve pulled off have been successful, safe and socially distanced.  As Sonoma, Marin, Napa and even San Francisco counties slowly begin to open back up, it’s time for the club to bring back some perennial favorites and group activities this summer and fall.

Many riders have been clamoring for a longer, faster paced group ride and this Sunday, we’re finally hosting an “Experts Only” event.  The twisted, mountainous, switchback-heavy Fairfax-Bolinas Road trail beckons!! The route from the PostMods clubhouse (Revolution Moto in Santa Rosa) shall cover more than 100 miles of backroads riding and is intended for advanced, experienced riders comfortable with fast-paced curves and possibly some annoying automobile traffic.  While no freeway riding is required, we do have a lot of ground to cover and this will NOT be our usual comfortable stroll through our scenic wine country.

With kickstands up at 10am sharp, the group shall be rolling thru Sebastopol on our way to the coast and Hwy 1.  We’ll sprint thru Valley Ford, Tomales and Marshall en route to a quick pitstop in Pt. Reyes Station at 11:30am.  After a restroom / snack break we’ll continue south toward Bolinas until we reach the western entrance of Fairfax-Bolinas Road.  After 15 of the most challenging miles your bike will ever love, we’ll turn our scooters northwestward along Sir Francis Drake Blvd toward Nicasio Valley Road.  We’ll stop at 1:30pm for a club-furnished charcuterie-style picnic lunch ‘pondside’ at the Marin French Cheese Company as we ride toward Petaluma.  Safely distanced and thoughtfully packaged meat and cheese, graciously provided by fellow scooterist Jerome Rivoire and Fabrique Delices, will be available for everyone to enjoy.

At 2:30pm the group mounts up for the final leg of the ride, returning along Petaluma Hill Road no later than 3:30pm.  It’s going to be a long day of scootering at highway speeds for nearly 115 total miles, so this IS NOT A RIDE FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.  Iron-butts are welcome– those longing to cover a lot of distance and see some amazing sights along the coast and beyond will not be disappointed.

Sunday June 27th is this year’s annual National Vespa Parade Day, hosted by the Vespa Club of America.  The PostMods will be hosting a citywide group ride all across San Francisco.  Highlights will included the world famous Lombard Street, Fishermans’ Wharf, Land’s End, Ocean Beach, Crissy Field and more. All scooterists are welcome to join, scooter transport to and from the City by the Bay can be arranged beforehand.
